I don't have another Mac to connect it to. I'm wondering if it will work from a Mac to a PC. The instructions provided say that it works from one Mac to another. hold down shift during boot to safe mode. It is unable to restart - the technician that worked on it suggested using Target Disc Mode to get old files off of the computer.I can hold down Apple D and it will take me internet recovery and then restart loop. Connect your Macs via a Firewire or Thunderbolt cable. You can also enter Target Disk Mode by rebooting your Mac and holding down the T key as it boots. Click the Startup Disk icon and click the Target Disk Mode button to restart your Mac in Target Disk Mode. I don’t know if this is because the drive is clean. To enter Target Disk Mode, click the Apple menu and select System Preferences. Hold down d during boot to get diagnostic mode the progress bar goes to the end in about 5 minutes and instead of entering the installation program, it gets into a reboot loop and will restart in internet recovery mode and start the process all over again I can successfully enter internet recovery mode, hardliners Ethernet.
#Mac restart target disk mode install#
The option will be given to install Mojave, once I hit enter, it doesn’t take me to MacOS utilities, it reboots and continues to loop The usb can be read, I boot holding down Apple key. making a bootable usb using the Apple Mojave install image and terminal instructions.I’ve tried:ĭoesn’t make any difference just reboot loops There is nothing to restore or backup at point. I’ve already formatted the drive using target disk mode and trying to install a fresh copy of Mojave. I have a newly acquired Mac Mini 2018 that cannot get out of reboot loops.
